How My Brain Changed on a GLP-1

My brain waves changed.

I know that might sound strange—but if you’re someone whose mind is constantly thinking about your next meal or the cookie you passed by 10 minutes ago, you’ll understand exactly what I mean.

People ask me all the time, “What changes did you notice on a GLP-1?” And honestly? The biggest one was this:
My mind went quiet.

Before starting a GLP-1, I was hungry all the time. If food was nearby, I’d eat. Every few hours, without fail. My thoughts never slowed down. On Monday morning, I’d already be planning what I was going to eat for dinner on Thursday.

That tray of cookies or bowl of candy? It was never just one. I always felt like I had to clean my plate, and don’t even get me started on grocery store trips—if it looked good, it went in the cart.

To anyone else, it probably looked like I just had no self-control. And maybe to some extent, that was part of it. But now, after being on a GLP-1, I truly believe it was more than that. It was a brain issue. My signals were off.

When I started this journey, I didn’t just want to lose weight. I wanted to retrain myself—how I eat, how I think about food, and how I listen to my body. I came into it with that intention, and I honestly started feeling the mental shift within the first month.

Do I still always make the best choices? Nope.
But now, when I make “less healthy” choices, I can do it with moderation—and that’s something I never had before.

Here’s What’s Changed for Me on a GLP-1:

1. Moderation
I’m finally able to control my portions—partly because I feel full faster, but also because I’ve learned to stop when I’m full.
Before, even if I was full, I’d keep eating. Now, I can recognize the signal and say, “I’m done. This food isn’t serving me anymore.”

2. Food Noise
Not everyone understands this one—but if you’ve experienced it, you know.
The constant thinking about food… gone. The obsession over what I’ll eat next or the cookie I walked past 20 minutes ago… gone.

These days, I rarely think about food unless I’m planning a grocery list. And if I do want a cookie, I can have half—or just a bite—and feel satisfied.

3. Cravings
Yep, I still get them! But they don’t control me anymore.
Now when I think I want Sour Patch Kids, I’ll have a few—and more often than not, realize I don’t even want them. I’ve started calling it the “GLP-1 Bite Special.” Sometimes, one bite is enough to satisfy the craving and reset my brain.

4. Figuring Out What to Eat
This one surprised me the most. Most of the time, I have no idea what sounds good to eat.
Someone will ask, “What do you want for dinner?” and my answer is almost always, “You pick.”
The upside? Since nothing sounds particularly good, it’s easier to make healthier choices.

The truth is, these changes won’t happen the same way for everyone. This is just my story—but these four things have helped me lose 70 pounds, and I genuinely believe I wouldn’t have come this far without the help of a GLP-1.

If you struggle with food noise, constant cravings, or portion control like I did, a GLP-1 might help you find the same kind of peace.

I’m just so thankful I finally found my food silence.

Stay Positively You!
